Alentejo Food & Soul: celebrate food and wine in Estremoz
Two days in which renowned figures pay homage to the best products of the Alentejo. This is the motto of the first edition of the Alentejo Food & Soul, a new food and wine festival that takes place days 2 and 3 June, at the Centro Ciência Viva de Estremoz, Convent of the Maltese. The event promises to be a meeting fruitful between local producers of meats, wines, vegetables and olive oil, and a group of young cooks and chefs to national and international claims agreements.
In residence, in two days, will be present Matthias Bernwieser, of Austria, Francesco Brutto (Italy) and Semi Hakim, Turkey. Tell, still with the pastry chef, Carlos Fernandes, and the heads of the Alentejo region, Alberto Walls (Rosemary, Estremoz) and Filipe Ramalho (Basilii, Monforte).
On Saturday, June 2, will give rise to your creations, Alexandre Silva, of the PLACE, Fork Platinum edition in 2018 of the Guide Good Bed Good Table and with a Michelin star, Hugo Brito (Ox-Horse, Lisbon, portugal), Pedro Pena Bastos and the chefs of the region, Miguel Laffan (L’AND, Montemor-o-Novo, Golden Fork in the Guide Good Bed Good Table and with a Michelin star), Gonçalo Queiroz (Origins, Évora), Michele Marques (Mercearia Gadanha), Pedro Mendes (Narcissus Fernandesii, the restaurant of the Alentejo Marmòris Hotel & Spa, Vila Viçosa), Rui Fialho (Restaurant Fialho, Évora, portugal) and Luis de Matos (Portalegre).
On Sunday, June 3, is the time of António Galapito (Prado, Lisbon, portugal), Maurice Worth (SOI, Lisbon, portugal) Leopoldo Garcia Pebble (Coffee Garrett, Lisbon), Tiago Bonito (Largo do Paço, Amarante, Golden Fork in the Guide Good Bed Good Table and with a Michelin star), as well as the local chefs José Baldé (Panoramic Restaurant, Montemor), Alice Pôla (String Sixteenth century, Estremoz) and António Nobre (M’ar de Ar, Évora).
“We will work with the chefs and producers of the alentejo region and challenge the international chefs to make use of the products of the region,” explains Ana Musician, one of the organizers of this festival. Starting from the alentejo’s gastronomy and regional products, the idea is to create, in the sight of the visitors, innovative dishes. The dishes, with the fixed price of 5€ or 7€, are to share in tables races, in an environment that is cheerful and relaxed.
The Alentejo Food & Soul is a street festival produced by the Amuse Bouche and promoted by the Tourism of Alentejo, ERT, with the support of the municipality of Estremoz, of the Confraternity of cuisine of the Alentejo and the Regional Agency for Tourism Promotion of Alentejo. The entrance is free of charge.
