In Tavira, everything that comes to the net is fish!
Celebrating, once again, the so-called “Mediterranean Diet”, the algarve municipality of Tavira is promoting, until Sunday, may 27, another edition of the Gastronomy Festival of the Sea. Octopus, tuna, cod, anchovies, stingray, xaputa and sea bass are just a few of the “flavors of the coast”, which will be presented by the 21 participating restaurants. They get together, still, at the table, the wine and the sweet regional.
To whet your appetite, it should be noted that the Gilão Restaurant (Rua do Cais, Tavira. Tel. 281 322 050) is one of the participants in this initiative, and displays, in the menu special, the Clams with lemon and glassworth (€12) and Belly of the Tuna, accompanied with “pesto” of parsley, and pine nuts (€11) The menu suggests, to keep track of, Barranco Longo Great Choice (€3,50/glass). To end, have as dessert Squares orange and xarém of zeste of orange (€3).
Another option is the House of the Octopus – Tasquinha (Avenida Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco 8, Santa Luzia. Tel. 281 328 527) who bet on the Panadinhos octopus, accompanied by a spicy sauce, or garlic, homemade (€8,50), the Grilled octopus and shrimp cooked with manioc and coconut milk (€15,90), along with white rice. The wine recommended is the Unforeseen (€14,80/Bottle) and, for dessert, we suggest Pie Almond Algarve (€3,50).
With the aim to celebrate the “Mediterranean Diet” and make the fusion between the art of cuisine and the identity of the algarve, the Festival of Gastronomy of the Sea has even more of a tempting attraction: all who make a meal under this initiative enable it if the prizes such as stays in hotel units of the municipality and tourist trips by location.
