“Taste Portugal” is the motto for the National Day of Gastronomy 2018. So much so that one of the initiatives of this third edition is an exposure that if you eat and drink. Yes, all that is exposed is to eat and drink. The flavors and knowledge of Portuguese around the table and have a feast, but there is more: in Addition to the cooking demos and tastings, there are also shows, animation, and book launching.
A trip of flavors which involves several events throughout the month of may, culminating on the weekend of 26 and 27, at which point is the highest point of the celebration, on the banks of the Douro, along the Cais de Gaia.
Before that, this is one of the main actions of national defense and dissemination of the Portuguese gastronomy, the confraternities dining of various typical products mark a strong presence in the demonstrations and tastings that promise to meet the population points nevrálgicos of the city, such as the Sá Carneiro Airport and several Metro stations.
Because “it feels so good to be Portuguese”, throughout the country there are restaurants adhering to the initiative: During the entire week preceding the National Day of Gastronomy, a network of restaurants offers a traditional dish surrounded by offers or discounts up to 50%. Not only in Portugal but also all over the world, the party extends to hundreds of Portuguese restaurants (outside, belonging to the network to Prove Portugal (Taste Portugal).
In Cais de Gaia, more than 60 exhibitors will liven up throughout the weekend, the marginal of the city, with their best products. The exhibitors are all of the producers represented by the Brotherhoods and Gastronomic Báquicas, producers associated with the club producers of the Continent and even the companies of the wines of the Douro and Porto.
In addition to this shows, the party is guaranteed with animation constant, showcookings from time to time for the whole family, an exhibition – “That if you Eat and drink” to see and prove, and the launch of a new CTT stamp.
Promoted by the Portuguese Federation of Confraternities Dining; AHRESP – Associação da Hotelaria, Restauração e Similares de Portugal and by the AGAVI – Association for the Promotion and Defense of the Gastronomy, Wines, Regional Products and Biodiversity, the National Day of the Portuguese Gastronomy was approved in the Assembly of the Republic and instituted on the last Sunday of may.
This is the third edition of the National Day of Gastronomy. The first was held in Aveiro, in 2016, and in the past year the feast took place in Lisbon.
