Paul do Mar celebrates the best lapas in Madeira
Is part of the tradition and drags to Paul do Mar, in the municipality of Calheta, many visitors eager to sample the best limpets of the Wood, one of the most iconic dishes of the archipelago, served grilled with butter, garlic and lemon. The organization of the event is the responsibility of the House of the People of Paul do Mar, with the aim to promote the cultural heritage of this parish, and, above all, the delicious limpets harvested in the rocky shores of this region and of great importance to the local economy.
Over the course of three days (today, Friday, the 13th, until Sunday, July 15) and with a magnificent view to the sea, visitors will be able to watch traditional dances, a typical scenario of a village the islanders, but also performances from DJ’s and live bands. The stalls of food and drink, and already know, are the great attraction of the Party of Lapa. In this context, the highlight is the debut of the restaurant Bites on the Bait, that leaves three days, the comfort of Paul do Mar Sea View Hotel.
For the Feast of the Lapa, the space of the Dick in the Bait prepared a gastronomic offer quite tempting. The Limpets (€5) are the standout, but the head is Frederico Rosa Gomes went further and leads up to the street Rockets of the sword (€4) Octopus marinated (€5), Sandwiches of the sword (€5) and the traditional Bolo do caco with butter and garlic (€5). To accompany the dishes, in the stand of the Bites on the Bait it is possible to ask, beer, sangria or the typical poncha madeira (€2,50).
