Pitaria, the cuisine of the Middle East, according to José Avillez
Arrived in Pitaria! Already there are ten restaurants that José Avillez is in charge of. Or better, there are ten brands that bear the name that is the greatest symbol of national gastronomy, and now, the best in the world, thanks to the international prize ” Grand Prix de l’art de la Cuisine, which rewards “the best cook of the year”, and that is assigned by the International Academy of Gastronomy , and that Monday was announced.
Divided between Lisbon and Porto, José Avillez not to and discreetly, in an interview the purpose of the reward received by the International Academy of Gastronomy to the Express, has already announced to have open doors to Pitaria, a space right in front of the Neighborhood Avillez, where the specialty is the flavors of the Middle East, served in pita bread.
To eat on site, small but modern, as the other restaurants of José Avillez, there are always 7 pitas available, prepared on the moment and the view, with the finest, freshest ingredients. The letter suggests a “Greek with avocado, tomato, avocado, cucumber, lettuce, black olives, feta cheese, oregano and sauce of yogurt and mint”, a “Shoarma pork, lettuce, tomato, coriander, pickled onion and garlic sauce and yogurt”, and even a “Shoarma grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, coriander and garlic sauce and yogurt”.
In the Pitaria there are still “Falafel with baba ganoush, falafel, grain, lettuce, tomato, watercress, baba ganoush, red onion, pomegranate and a sauce of yogurt and mint”, “Kebab minced meat with spices, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, fried onion, pickled turnip, olive green and mustard sauce” and “Sujuk, sausage, armenia, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickled cabbage and garlic sauce and yogurt”. The price of the pitas vary between €7 and €7.5 and can have as an accompaniment to fries with za atar or sweet potato fries. The menu is complete with two unexpected desserts: the “Baklava with fresh cream and orange blossom” and the “Ice cream of roses, coconut and pistachio”.
The Pitaria (Rua Nova da Trindade, 11 M, Lisbon), is open every day, and provides service – take-away, so that you can try at home the specialties of the Middle East, according to José Avillez.
