Restaurant EsteOeste: comes Out a sea bass on the pizza

Lisbon grows at a breakneck pace, and the choice of a restaurant, among the many flavors available, it becomes increasingly more difficult. In the organization of a lunch or dinner with friends, suggest sushi or pizza, you’ll quickly realize the discussion to settle. In this (or many other) context, the restaurant EsteOeste, at the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon, has just presented the new menu. And, believe me, after reading this text, you will have a good help in taking decisions about such a lunch or dinner with friends.

The story starts when António Oliveira e Silva, owner of the Casavostrain Almancil, is challenged to open a restaurant in Lisbon with a menu of japanese and Italian. The marriage between the emblematic pizzas served in the Algarve and japanese dishes group Sushi Coffee gave, thus, rise to the restaurant EsteOeste (Centro Cultural de Belém, Praça do Império, Lisbon. Tel. 215 904 358).

Those in the know, knows that, in the last 4 years, the restaurant EsteOeste did justice to the name and came up with a menu divided between traditional Italian dishes and the inspiration the japanese. Now, the big news is the meeting of these two worlds, in the same dish!

If before, until the desk was broken and the uniforms contrasted between the white and the black, depending on the source of the flavors, now, the east and the West have merged into one. Or better, in a number of proposals…

In the new menu is suggestions, that are as delicious as unlikely. The Usuzukuri maguro (€15,50), which combines tuna carpaccio with slivers of parmesan cheese, ponzu trufado and watercress, or Gunkan-sake (€6) which joins the salmon to the blue cheese braseado, with compote of pear, a drizzle of honey and lemon.

Do not be surprised to find on the menu of the restaurant EsteOeste, a Calzone of sea bass (€17,50), a dish unexpected that convinces by the combination of flavors. This is a pizza calzone with fillet of sea bass, wrapped in coppa (filled with typical Italian), spinach, leeks and pine nuts. Prove still Polpette of veal (€12,50), a plate of meatballs with mashed sweet potatoes and basil. For dessert opt for the Crème brulée of sesame (€4,50).

The terrace, with a view to the river Tagus, is still a good plan for these days. Enjoy the good time with the new cocktails of the restaurant EsteOeste. The cocktail This (€10,50), basil with poseco, or the cocktail West (€10,50), strawberry with sake.
