The Algarve receives dinner unheard of with the “Pope of Wine”
Only a few hours remain for the start of the third edition (the event runs every two years) of the Fine Wines & Food Fair, organized by the Vila Vita Parc, Alporchinhos, Algarve, and that has as the host, the chef Hans Neuner, holder of 2 Michelin stars for their work in the main restaurant of fine dinning at the resort, and the Ocean, also the “Golden Fork”, in the edition 2017 of the Guide Good Bed Good Table.
The festival’s Fine Wines & Food Fair is the most important gastronomic event of the year in Portugal, bringing together over six days, some of the most influential chefs of today (a total of 51 Michelin stars) and the famous wine producers international.
For the opening event, the Vila Vita Parc has prepared a dinner unprecedented and unrepeatable. In the restaurant the Atlantic, was invited René Gabriel, known as “The Wine Pope” (“Pope of Wine”), to select and present a night dedicated, exclusively, to the famous and unique wines of Bordeaux. For the first time in Portugal will be served 8 bottles Imperial (6 liters, of wines, Bordeaux, all with a score equal to or above 94 points, on the scale of Robert Parker: The 2010 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc; 2008 Château Palmer; 1995 Château Cos D’estournel; 2001 Château Mouton-Rothschild; 1996 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou; 1999 Château Monbousquet; 2005 Château Le Gay; and the 2007 Château Climens.
This unique selection of René Gabriel, author of the famous book “Wein Bibel” (“The Bible of Wine”), where are gathered the best nectars of the world, will have as a company, the dishes created for this event by 6 well-known chefs, starting with Eckart Witzigmann, who is considered the “Chef of the Century”, the restaurant Hangar 7 in Austria (3 star Michelin) and ending on the Dieter Koschina, head of restaurant Vila Joya, in the Algarve (2 Michelin stars). The team of Vila Vita Parc are included in this constellation of stars, Florian Ruehlmann, the restaurant’s Ocean.
This dinner, which is exclusive for 30 people, held at the Atlântico restaurant, in the Clubhouse of the resort, it costs €380.
Fine Wines & Food Fair
After this first dinner, the Vila Vita Parc is the venue of six other gastronomic event. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the night dedicated to the Great Stars Swiss, followed by, on Wednesday, the Dinner of the New Stars in the Austrian. Thursday is the Dinner Vila Vita “All-Star”, with the chief host, Hans Neuner, receive big names in the kitchen world, such as Michelin Gert de Mangeleer and Klaus Erfort, both with 3 Michelin stars. The Friday is marked by a novelty, a lunch, informal and special, with your feet in the sand. This is the “Chiringuito Chic – Barcelona Style” (€48, with drinks) that will take place in the restaurant Golden Beach, in the beach of Armação de Pêra, with the presence of the chief Spanish Evaristo Triano, responsible for one of the best paellas in the world, ensures the organization of the festival. The evening will be dedicated to the Stars of Spain, highlighting, also, the selection of wines from winemaker and wine producer Alvaro Palacio.
On Saturday, the 20th day of may, the last night of the Fine Wines & Food Fair promises plenty of celebration and surprises. The Kitchen Party, in a more casual environment, will lead to the various spaces of the Clubhouse of the Vila Vita Parc, a dozen cooking stations, each led by a chief of renown, from the host, Hans Neuner (2 Michelin stars, and Golden Fork, the Guide Good Bed Good Table, in the Ocean, a restaurant of fine dining in the resort), to the “Portuguese fried” Henrique Sá Pessoa, Luis Pestana, Miguel Laffan, Rui Paula, Rui Silvestre and Vítor Matos. In the latter event (€275), considered to be “an experience of tasting unique dining”, the participants will be able to taste a dish from each of the heads, as well as some of the world’s best wines and gourmet products, such as the “Imperial Caviar”. Gifts will also be well-known chefs, such as Juan Amador and Jacob Jan Boerma (3 Michelin stars).
