Are already known the Wine Spectator”s Restaurant Awards 2018, the prizes that distinguish the restaurants that offer selections of interesting wines, that are suited to gastronomic proposals presented, and that invite to the visit of a large number of wine connoisseurs”. This is a reward annual of the responsibility of the prestigious north american magazine wine Wine Spectator. From a list of criteria are assigned three types of awards: Award of Excellence (1 glass), Best of Award of Excellence (2 glasses) and Grand Award (3 cups), which was awarded to only 91 restaurants in the world.
This year, Portugal has seen four restaurants winery to be awarded, two of which for the first time. The rookies are the Restaurant EMO, located in the resort Anantara Vilamoura, and the restaurant Vale Abraão, the main gastronomic space of Six Senses Douro Valley in Lamego. Both have earned the Award of Excellence (1 glass). In this exclusive list of restaurants are still, awarded since 2012, the Yeatman, in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the Il Gallo D’oroat The Cliff Bay in Funchal, which from 2016 has renewed the reward. The two restaurants were rated Best of Award of Excellence (2 glasses).
About the Restaurant EMO it should be noted that the bet on Portuguese wines and international includes the presence of a Wine Guru (Bruno Cunha), who is in charge of more than 350 references, which harmonize with the tasting menus of chef Bruno Viegas. To mark the achievement, for the first time, of this award, the Anantara Vilamoura presented the new Wine Boutique on the ground floor, which is also the scene of events wine and master classes. With the arrival of summer, during July and August, Thursdays are marked by the “Wine Nights”, in which visitors are invited to improve your knowledge about Portuguese wines, exploring the association with gastronomy through different themes, such as organic wines, Algarve wines, rosés, and wines from the region of Lisbon. Every week, different producers present their wines through tastings and cocktails to the base of the wine of welcome, followed by a tasting menu unique.
Also the agenda of the Anantara Vilamoura (Gold Key edition 2018 of the Guide Good Bed Good Table) are the two sessions of the event “Battle of the Bubbles” (26 July and 2 August) that will put front the front of the main producers of Champagne with the best sparkling wines to the Portuguese.
